ABOUT THE FILM
When Keshia, a former undocumented immigrant and now Latina DREAMER living in New York City, decides to risk it all so she can open her own business, she embarks on a paradoxical journey that will forever change her life. She finds herself battling the establishment’s barriers based on gender and race biases that are perfectly designed to prevent her from achieving an American Dream that is Latina Owned. Filmed over six years, Latina Owned, chronicles Keshia’s journey to create her own destiny while facing financial inequalities for small business owners of color, lack of true government support for Latina business owners, and the struggles to keep a business open amidst unexpected challenges including the Covid-19 pandemic.
